How much will it take to get NASCAR to change rules of it's restricter plate races? Most notably Talladega. There have been a few incidences like Billy Allison's famous crash that took out part of the fence, similar to Edwards Crash at Aaron's 499.
Then comes that issue of what can they change. When you have 43 cars on one track with tight specifications on how the car can be engineered all running along side each other at 200 MPH. That is a recipe for disaster. Maybe change aerodynamics so that car will be less likely to lift at these speeds. Lowering the speeds at which these cars can run at. Lowering the speeds at a super speedway? What would that do to the racing? High speeds are what Super Speedways are all about.
Then there is the issue of fans wanting crashes. Part of racing is the thrill of someone running on the thin edge where one wrong move could mean the end of your day or worse. This applies to all forms of racing. NASCAR may not make a change, it's just racing. On to Richmond!
